Can a software platform be the new normal for merchandising?
I’m sure we can all name software platforms that have changed the way we work. Trademe, Xero & Uber are obvious candidates, there are also many smaller platforms that are transforming the way business works reducing costs and improving productivity significantly.
The current sales and merchandising model is not an efficient use of time and resources, involving driving to multiple stores in many cases to perform refill and merchandising duties. This opens the door for other options, supermarket staff performing the merchandising duties or a SaaS (software as a service) platform using shared staff to perform the same tasks more efficiently. From brands, agencies and a retailers perspective the question remains. What work is being done? Is the stock in the shelf? Are the promo tickets up? Is the price right? Have the off location display’s been built and what are the competitors prices? This information is vital for brands, agencies and stores to run their businesses. Managing information accurately and efficiently is what software does well, however it does change how we work. |

The Storetaste platform gives brands, agencies and retailers the information to manage their sales strategically.
The other change is the way merchandising is completed. Currently brands and agencies have their own teams of merchandising reps all driving to the same stores all with the same loss of productivity and unnecessary use of resources travelling between stores.
Instead merchandising representative actions are shared and the platform becomes the new merchandising agency managing staff, making visible the merchandising activity and the product in every store.
